Definition of cryolite:
Crystal stone is a colorless and transparent large quartz crystal mineral whose main chemical composition is silica. Crystal stones are generally colorless, purple, yellow, green and smoky, with a glassy luster, transparent to translucent characteristics, its hardness reaches 7, but brittleness.
Types of crystal stones:
There are many kinds of crystal stones. According to their formation, they are classified into the following types:
1. Natural crystal:
Natural crystals are formed under natural conditions and grow deep in the earth's crust. They are usually formed after intense crustal movements such as volcanoes and earthquakes.
2. Synthetic crystal:
Synthetic crystal is also called regenerative crystal stone, it is a kind of single crystal, also called synthetic crystal, piezoelectric crystal. Regenerated crystal is "imitating the growth process of natural crystal" by hydrothermal crystallization. Natural silicon ore and some chemical substances are placed in the autoclave. After 1-3 months of cultivation, the regenerated crystal is gradually formed.
3. Fused crystal:
This kind of crystal stone is smelted with crystal waste as raw material in high temperature and high pressure, but not crystallized. Therefore, it does not have the crystalline characteristics of crystal.
4. K9 glass imitation crystal:
Although some K9 glasses are made from silica as the main raw material, 24% of lead is added to the melting process, which is actually lead glass.
Natural crystal features:
1. Natural nature
Natural property is the basic characteristic of crystal stone. Generally, the whole crystal mineral has high ornamental value without decoration, but the enclosing crystal ornamental stone often needs to be polished and polished properly, so that it is more convenient to see the inclusion body inside the crystal.
2. Odd characteristics
Crystal stones are often strange in form, texture, internal features, etc. Nature has unlimited scenery, can be found in the enclosing crystal species in miniature.
Natural crystal stone is a non-renewable resource. With the deepening of development, natural crystal stock has become less and less, becoming a rare product.
The chemical composition of crystal is mainly silicon dioxide, so the chemical stability of crystal is quite good. The hardness of cryolite is up to level 7. These determine that the crystal will not decay, durability, easy to preserve, very suitable for collection.
